| I
became interested in meditation after having
a spiritual experience in New York during
a trance dance. In 2004 I moved in to a
conscious community event center in Brooklyn
called GrandSpace, where I connected with
different avenues of transformational work
such as live & blended foods, green
juicing & cleansing, movement meditation,
the art of living, landmark education, tribal
dance, shamanism, manifestation, massage
and tai chi. I worked on graphics promotion
for GrandSpace, including web site and flyer
design / animation, and organized and DJ'ed
music at events. Through the network of
community, I began to connect with various
spiritual teachers like Andrew Cohen and
Tyohar, and I recognized my intention for
deeper practice.
In the beginning
of 2007 I followed a calling to move to
California. My partner Laura sent me a web
link to MahaSiddha Dharma, where she had
visited as a guest years ago. I went to
community meditation at the Berkeley Gompa
and felt a strong resonance with everyone
there. After hearing Kali Ma speak, I was
moved by how simple and yet deeply articulate
her dharma talks were. Her gaze was penetrating,
and I felt the depth of her presence. I
felt grateful for her accessibility and
was inspired by the vibrancy of the community
itself. The practices feel clear and comprehensive
to me. I feel strengthened by the sangha
and the wisdom of the tantric path -- living
vibrantly in the world and seeing all areas
of life as avenues of transformation.
I am excited
about the growth of this and other spiritual
communities. I feel that civilization has
reached a pivotal moment and that our evolution
is about us coming together and seeing our
interconnected wholeness. I am inspired
to express this perspective and bring awareness
to it through media arts. The MahaSiddha
Dharma community is a blessing in my life.
You are all a team of transformation superheroes
and I am grateful to share in this journey
with you, to expand and reflect our true
nature. May we support each other in living
our absolute potential. |

| I
currently reside in a little area near
downtown San Diego called Golden Hill
with my boyfriend Dave and my cat Sassy.
I moved to San Diego from my birthplace,
St. Louis Missouri in the summer of 1989.
Although I support myself financially
as a database manager, my real calling
is rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife.
Much of my time is spent treating orphaned,
sick and injured wildlife of all types
with Project Wildlife in San Diego. I
am so passionate about this work for many
reasons; one of which is that it provides
me endless and deep opportunities to develop
as a Dharma practitioner. As one of the
leaders there, I am thrust into challenging
situations every day where I need to make
decisions concerning life, death and healing.
I am asked to sort out conflicts between
people, to develop my capacity to work,
to cultivate patience and to teach. In
my personal life, I also love to read,
cook, entertain at home, draw, paint,
knit, ski, hike, and do all manner of
things outdoors.
I have been practicing and learning with
the MahaSiddha community for about 3 -
4 years. It took many years to be led
to the teachings of Kali Ma and the MahaSiddha
Dharma, but when I did discover them,
it was as if the intuitions I always had
were finally given words I could never
find for myself. I grew up learning spiritual
instruction from the Catholic church,
but the concepts I was being taught there
never quite satisfied my spiritual quest.
I always felt that there was something
I understood in the words of the Bible
that weren't being realized.
Finally,
through The Teacher, the Teachings and
the Community of fellow practitioners,
my prayers of transforming depression
and neurosis were finally answered and
continue to bloom today. I am living proof
that even a little inner work can change
so much - the same way a small lever placed
in just the right position under a huge
boulder can actually move it ! |
